End of Term Newsletter

Well, it's only a few days now until this academic year will be at an end. It has been an interesting year and let's hope that everything is slowly getting back to 'normal'.

It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible and please let any friends with little ones know about them too. Just drop us an email or text with which day/time you'd prefer so that we can manage numbers.

Important Dates
Our last day of term is WEDNESDAY 21ST JULY.

Our first day open in September will be MONDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER

Saturday 18th September - Long Eaton Carnival - please pop along and say hello we will be on the main showground.

All useful dates can be found over on our website - http://springfieldpreschool.co.uk/

End of Year Assessments - Tapestry
In the next few days we will be adding our final assessments to Tapestry for the year and each parent/carer will be invited to download their child's learning journal. This not only serves as a record and a reminder of their time with us but for those moving onto 'big school' it maybe useful for your child's next teacher. For anyone whose Tapestry login has expired please get in touch so that you don't miss out.

And don't forget over the Summer break you can still share with us what you are getting up to. It's always great to see what the children have done as this can then help with their return in September.

Just Giving
As our ability to fund raise this past 16 months or so has been severely impacted we thought we would launch our very own Crowdfunder through Just Giving. Fund raising is at the heart of pre-schools like ourselves and enables us to continue to provide a much needed service, with the best possible resources to ensure that all children attending Springfield get the best possible start to their education. If you would like to contribute then please follow the link below and please feel free to share this with family and friends - thank you ðŸ™‚

Funding & Codes
All children aged 3 & 4 years of age are eligible for up to 15 hours of government funding per week which pre-school claims on your behalf. All eligible children will shortly be receiving an FE1 Funding Form which must be completed in full, signed and returned to pre-school so that we can process your claim.

Some children may be eligible to claim an additional 15 hours of funding making a grand total of 30 hours per week, parents can find out whether they are eligible by visiting www.childcarechoices.gov.uk If eligible parents will need to apply and once approved will be given a '30 Hours Code'. Once parents have this code, please inform pre-school so that we can complete our necessary checks. Codes MUST be obtained by 31st August 2021 in order that funding can be accessed from September.

Any parents already claiming the additional hours must ensure that they re-confirm their code every three months to ensure funding can be claimed in full.

Funding for Two Year Olds - funding maybe available for some two year olds dependant on circumstances and parents should access www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to find out more. Parents can also find out more here https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/education/early-years-childcare/early-learning-free-places/free-places-two/free-childcare-for-two-year-olds.aspx If eligible, parents will be given a code and a start date which should then be given to pre-school. Parents will also need to complete an FE1 Funding Form once eligibility has been confirmed.

Any questions please email.

New School Year
We would like to wish all those children moving onto 'big school' the very best of luck and hope they have an amazing time. Please keep in touch as all the ladies would love to see you in your new school uniform and hear how you are getting on!!

For those children staying with us we can't wait to see what September brings and are looking forward to planning lots of exciting activities for you. Please remember when you return the weather may still be warm so don't forget sun hats and sun cream! (fingers crossed).

Phone - Help!
Our pre-school phone is in desperate need of an upgrade...if anyone has an iPhone they no longer need and would like to donate it to pre-school we would be extremely grateful! (we currently have a 5S so anything more up to date than that would be lovely!) Thank you.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your support this past 16 months or so, it is truly appreciated by everyone involved with Springfield and we cannot thank you enough. It is only with your support that we can continue to flourish and give your little ones the best start possible. Thank You ðŸ™‚

We hope everyone has a great Summer, and that the weather is kind...please remember to share what you get up to over on Tapestry as well!

Much love,
'Tha Ladies'

What's Happening at Pre-School - w/c 5th July 2021

This will be our last 'What's Happening' of this academic year.

As we move into the last couple of weeks our focus still remains on making sure that those children leaving us for big school are as ready for school as they possibly can be. And for our younger children we will be looking towards September and getting them ready to be our new 'big ones'!

As part of this process we will be reviewing each child's Tapestry learning journal and getting them ready so that parents will be able to download and save them over the course of the next couple of weeks; so keep your eyes open for an invitation from Tapestry to download!

Investigation Play

This week we will be having both sand and water play out for the children to enjoy. We will also be using playdough to stretch our creative skills as well as develop our fine motor skills.

Movement Activities

This week we will be having lots of action sings to keep us moving along.

Children's Choice

And as we enter the last couple of weeks of the year we will be asking the children what they want to play with, and having some of their favourite toys and activities available.

We hope this information is of use but please get in touch if you have any questions (please use Tapestry).
