What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 30.1.23

Hi Everyone,

Our new topic over the next three weeks will be based on the Story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We will be reading the story, acting it out and creating our own props. The children will get the chance to hear the story in different ways, reading, using the CD story and watching it on TV too! 

This week on creative we will be making large pictures of grass, water, mud, a snowstorm and forest. We will be putting these up around the room so that the children can go on their very own Bear Hunt during their imaginative play. Will we find the cave with the Bear hiding inside? 

Our focus over the next two weeks will be maths. This week will be all about numbers and counting. We will have lots of activities out for the children to access, that will promote their mathematical skills.

What's Happening at Pre-School W/C 23.1.23

Hi Everyone,

This week at pre-school we will be learning all about and celebrating Chinese New Year. Its the year of the Rabbit!

Our home corner will be transformed into a Chinese restaurant, with lots of beautiful decorations. 

We will be busy on creative, making lanterns, fans and Ang Po envelopes. We will start the week off by making our very own dragon. We will use this as part of our movement activity, dancing to Chinese music, playing musical instruments and taking part in some Tai Chi too. 

The children will have the opportunity to practice their fine manipulative skills, playing in noodles while using tweezers and chopsticks. 

We will be looking at some Chinese numbers and seeing if we can draw some in the sand. 

The children will be trying some different Chinese food. Yummy!

What's Happening at Pre-school w/c 16.1.23

Hi Everyone,

Our Winter topic continues this week. The children will be taking part in a variety of different activities that promote both the topic and our focus of the week, which is pencil control. 

We will be getting messy in the shaving foam, using a variety of different tools. Experimenting with the marks they make. We will be putting our fine manipulative skills to the test by threading pasta onto pipe cleaners. Can we use the number cards to thread the correct amount? 

The children will be making some amazing, textured winter pictures on creative and will be provided with a variety of different resources. Can they create their own snowman?

Our ring game this week will be the Mulberry Bush and we will be moving like different Arctic animals during our movement time. 

We will continue to enjoy some of our favourite winter stories and songs throughout the week.

W/C 9.1.23 What's Happening at Pre-school.

 Hi Everyone,

We are all looking forward to welcoming the children back after the Christmas break. We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New year. 

Our topic for the next two weeks will be Winter Time. The children will be learning all about the season of winter, what the weather is like, what happens outdoors and what clothes we may need to wear to keep us warm. We will talk about different animals, Arctic animals and those that hibernate for the winter.

We will be playing in the water tray with added ice cubes, snowflakes and nets. How does water freeze? How does ice melt? We will be playing in artificial snow with our Arctic animals too!

 

On creative we will be making a large snowman for our Winter display, using a variety of different materials and tools to decorate. We will be making mittens, woolly hats and having a go at painting with ice cubes.

 

We will be enjoying some of our favourite Winter themed books and songs at Story and Singing Time.
