What's Happening at pre-school w/c 23.10.23

 Hi Everyone,

It's our Halloween fun week this week, and to tie in with our 'All About Me' topic we will be focusing on the 5 senses. (touch, taste, feel, smell and sight).
We invite the children to come dressed in their favourite Halloween costumes each day. Our decorate a cauldron competition will be drawn on Tuesday, so please remember to return your child's decorated cauldron before then.
We have Asda's new community champion Jayne visiting us on Tuesday afternoon. She will be judging our competition and will be pumpkin carving with the children.
We will be busy in our creative area. We will be getting messy in shaving foam and cornflour, making potions in the water tray and exploring our creepy swamp in the investigation unit. We will be making textured pumpkins, spiders webs and ghosts.
Please remember that pre-school is shut for our inset days on Thursday and Friday. We return back to pre-school on Monday 6th November.
🍰🍬Don't forget we will be selling cakes and sweety bags at the end of each session. Raising much needed funds that will help us to renew some of our resources. 🍰🍬
👗Our fashion show tickets are now on sale, if you would like to come along then tickets are £5 each. Just bank transfer the money across to pre-school with the reference 'Fashion Show' and we will allocate you your ticket numbers 👗

What's Happening at pre-school w/c 16.10.23

 Hi Everyone,

This week we will be continuing our topic of 'All About Me' and we will be learning all about how to keep ourselves healthy. We will be talking about foods that are good for us and how exercise helps to keep us fit.

Our focus of the week will be on the children's gross motor development. Can they move in different ways, balance on equipment, jump off an object landing appropriately, jump two feet together, throw, catch and kick a ball? We will also be practicing the children's independent dressing skills too.

We will be doing exercises at movement time, exploring the affects exercise has on our bodies. We will have an obstacle course set out in the physical area for the children to complete and we will be doing the 'Hokey Cokey' for our ring game.

We will be opening 'Springfield's Farm Shop' selling lots of healthy fruit and vegetables and we will be fruit and vegetable printing on the creative table.

We will be using our muscles in the construction area too, building with big boxes and junk modelling.

It's our ‘bring your parent’ to school day on Monday. If your child attends pre-school tomorrow, you can join us from 9.15am- 10.15am. We hope to see you all there 🙂.

Please remember to log into Tapestry, this gives you the opportunity to share all the lovely activities and photos with your children at home. Including what their next steps are.

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 9.10.23

 Hi Everyone,

Our topic 'All About Me' continues this week with a focus on people who care for us and who help us to stay healthy. We will be talking about visiting the dentist, opticians, doctors, hairdressers etc.
Our interest table will include lots of information books and pictures to learn about all these people, including different self care resources to talk about. e.g. hair brushes, tooth brushes, toothpaste tubes, shampoo bottles.
The children will be taking part in lots of activities that promote our fine manipulative skills and pencil control development. This will be our focus of the week. We will be doing our playdough finger gym, using a variety of different tools to draw with, paint with and trace patterns in the sand. We will be hunting for bugs in the investigation unit outdoors, using the tweezers to catch them. In the water tray we will be using our scissor scoops to catch the fish as well as using the pipettes to fill small containers.
During singing time, we will be singing lots of our favourite finger rhymes. For example, two little dicky birds, 1,2,3,4,5 and Tommy thumb.
🍂Please keep a look out in your children's book bags. Each child will be provided with a brown paper bag to collect some Autumn objects, when you are out and about. Once filled we ask for you to return them, these will be used for our upcoming Autumn topic after October half term.🍂

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 2.8.23

 Hi Everyone,

This week we move onto our new topic 'All About Me.' Focusing on 'My Family and Me.'

Please remember to provide a family photo/photos for your child. This will be used for our show and tell activity and then put onto our family tree display that the children will be making.

Our focus this week will be on speech development. We will be looking at how the children speak, what words can they say? Do they link words together to form simple sentences. Are they beginning to use more complex sentences using 'and' and 'because'.  Do they speak using past, present and future tenses. Do they ask who, what, when and how questions? and much, much more.

We will be turning our imaginative area into 'Springfield's Doctors Surgery'. We have received some lovely donations of resources to help enhance our role play area. We just wanted to say a big thank you from all the 'Ladies' it is very much appreciated.

We will be drawing pictures of 'Who lives in my house' and we will be creating faces using a variety of different resources. We will also be using mirrors to see if we can draw self-portraits too.

Please remember to log into Tapestry, this gives you the opportunity to share all the lovely activities and photos with your children at home. Including what their next steps are.

Any questions please ask or use Tapestry. 😀
