What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 27th Februaury 2023

Hi Everyone,

Hope you have all had a lovely half term. We are looking forward to welcoming all of the children back. 

World Book Day - We will be celebrating world book day by welcoming all the children to dress in their favourite character/fancy dress outfits. Any book donations of those you no longer need or want will be gratefully received. (Please see separate email for more information).

Focus- Our focus this week will be on the children's Personal, Social and Emotional development. The children will be taking part in lots of different types of games/activities that promote, turn taking, teamwork and listening/attention skills. We will also be talking about and discussing our Pre-School rules during registration time. 

Creative/Messy - We will be doing lots of free art this week. The children will be able to use and explore with lots of different materials, resources and tools to create their pictures. We will also be getting messy in the shaving foam, exploring what marks the different tools provided will make.

What’s Happening at Pre-School w/c 13.2.23

Hi Everyone,

This is our final week of our Bear Hunt Topic. 

We will be getting messy, playing with natural resources, grass, compost, sticks, water and artificial snow in the messy play tray. Can the children retell the story using the little people/bears provided?

SHOW AND TELL- We would like to invite all children to bring in their favourite teddy or soft toy, so that they can take part in show and tell. Please can you ensure all teddies are clearly named, so that no upset is caused. Thank You. 

FOCUS- Our focus this week will be on the children's physical development. They will be practicing gross motor skills as they complete the Bear hunt obstacle course. Can we go over it? Under it? Or will we have to go through it?

JUNK MODELLING- We will be doing lots of junk modelling this week at pre-school. If you have any unwanted boxes, tubes, yogurt pots etc, please could you save them and bring them along next week. 

CAKE SALE- Just a reminder it's cake sale week. Cakes will be on sale at the end of each session. All donations of cakes gratefully received. Cakes will be sold at 4 for £1.

Session Availability!

Does your child turn 2 or 3 between now and 31st March? If so then they could be entitled to 2 or 3 year funding from Easter.

What’s Happening at Pre-School w/c 6.2.23

Hi Everyone.

Our 'Bear Hunt Topic' continues this week at Pre-school. We will be turning out imaginative play area into the Bear's cave. The children will be provided with props to support them in their imaginative play, re-enacting the story themselves. We will be making character masks and binoculars on creative which will help to enhance the imaginative area. 

We will be using musical instruments at story time, to create the different sounds within the story. The children will have the opportunity to make their own instruments too!🎵

As our maths focus continues, we will be looking at the children's shape knowledge this week. Providing lots of activities through play that will help support their shape recognition and learning.

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 30.1.23

Hi Everyone,

Our new topic over the next three weeks will be based on the Story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We will be reading the story, acting it out and creating our own props. The children will get the chance to hear the story in different ways, reading, using the CD story and watching it on TV too! 

This week on creative we will be making large pictures of grass, water, mud, a snowstorm and forest. We will be putting these up around the room so that the children can go on their very own Bear Hunt during their imaginative play. Will we find the cave with the Bear hiding inside? 

Our focus over the next two weeks will be maths. This week will be all about numbers and counting. We will have lots of activities out for the children to access, that will promote their mathematical skills.

What's Happening at Pre-School W/C 23.1.23

Hi Everyone,

This week at pre-school we will be learning all about and celebrating Chinese New Year. Its the year of the Rabbit!

Our home corner will be transformed into a Chinese restaurant, with lots of beautiful decorations. 

We will be busy on creative, making lanterns, fans and Ang Po envelopes. We will start the week off by making our very own dragon. We will use this as part of our movement activity, dancing to Chinese music, playing musical instruments and taking part in some Tai Chi too. 

The children will have the opportunity to practice their fine manipulative skills, playing in noodles while using tweezers and chopsticks. 

We will be looking at some Chinese numbers and seeing if we can draw some in the sand. 

The children will be trying some different Chinese food. Yummy!
