What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 29.01.24

 Hi Everyone,

This is our second week of our 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' topic. We will be setting up a 'Bear hunt' themed obstacle course in the physical area. We will be using maps, binoculars and bear masks while completing the course, acting out our very own 'Bear Hunt' story. Will we find the Bear hiding in the cave?.
The children will be taking part in lots of activities that promote our fine manipulative skills and pencil control development. This will be our focus of the week. We will be doing our playdough finger gym for our ring game this week. On creative we will be using a variety of different tools to draw and paint with. We will be tracing patterns and letters in the mark making tray outdoors. We will be hunting for bugs in the investigation unit, using the tweezers to catch them. In the water tray we will be using our fishing nets to catch the fish as well as using the pipettes to fill small containers. Our compare Bears will be stuck in the mud (cornflour), what tools can we use to rescue them?
During singing time, we will be singing lots of our favourite finger rhymes. For example, two little dicky birds, 1,2,3,4,5 and Tommy thumb as well as our new grizzly bear song that the children have loved taking part in so far.

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 22.01.24

 Hi Everyone,

Our new topic over the next two weeks will be based on the Story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We will be reading the story, acting it out and creating our own props. The children will get the chance to hear the story in different ways, reading, using the CD story and watching it on TV too!
This week on creative we will be making large pictures of grass, water, mud, a snowstorm and forest. We will be putting these up in our physical area, so that the children can go on their very own Bear Hunt while taking part in imaginative play. Will we find the cave with the Bear hiding inside?
Our focus of the week will be on the children's gross motor development. We will be constructing with junk modelling, playing with balloons using the fly swatters as bats, jumping on the trampoline, crawling through tunnels, balancing along a bench, throwing, kicking and catching balls and moving in a variety of different ways.
We will be doing the Hokey Cokey for our ring game and aerobics during our movement time.
We are all looking forward to going on our own Bear Hunt adventure 🐻

 Hi Everyone,

Our physical area will be turned into 'Springfield carpark'. We will have the cars and bikes, numbered parking bays and a ticket office.

What's Happening at Pre-school w/c 08.01.24

Hi Everyone,
We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. We are looking forward to welcoming all our children back to pre-school this week.
Please remember that Monday 8th January pre-school will be closed for inset day.
Our topic to start the term off will be Winter Time. We will be learning all about what happens outdoors during the winter season and what clothes we may need to wear to keep us warm. We will also be learning all about different arctic animals.
The focus of the week will be on Shape. We will be playing with shapes, fitting shapes into different spaces (jigsaws/shape sorters), and constructing with them too. We will be exploring both 2D and 3D shapes. Can we match them, recognise and name them?
We will be building shape snowmen on the maths table. We will be getting messy in the shaving foam, experimenting with the marks different tools make. I wonder what shapes can we draw? We will be playing with arctic animals in the water tray and using the shape cutters in our snow themed playdough.
We will be singing some of our favourite winter songs and sharing some winter themed stories. During our movement time we will be moving like arctic animals in a variety of different ways.
