Busy Autumn Term

We have a very busy term at the moment with lots of exciting things happening!

We are just launching our 'Make a Christmas Cracker' competition with some fab prizes to be won. Each entry costs just £1 and we hope to see lots of bright and colourful creations! Crackers should be with us by Friday 1st December so the winners can be announced at our Christmas Fair.

We will be planning our Christmas Concert very soon so we need your reply slips and ticket orders back by Wednesday 22nd November.

Thursday 23rd November is an Inset Day so pre-school will be closed while the staff will be very busy preparing for the coming Christmas season.

We need your session requirements for January back by Friday 24th November so we can try and fit everyone in!

The week starting Monday 27th November is non-uniform week in exchange for a donation of a bottle of something for our bottle tombola; can be anything you like - wine, perfume anything you like as long as it's in a bottle!

On Tuesday 28th November we have a visit from Wild Science who will be bringing along some animals for some festive fun! This will be taking place at 4.00pm and costs £6.50 per child; we have a handful of places still available.

Friday 1st December we have our annual Christmas Fair. This will take place from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. There will be lots of fun for all the family; we will have tombolas, cakes, hot dogs, face painting, chocolate, crafts, lucky dip and of course Santa will be in his Grotto!! Entry will be £2 for adults (children free) with a complimentary glass of something festive! We are still furiously planning this event and if anyone can help with the organising, manning a stall or sourcing raffle prizes please let Jayne know as soon as you can (either email or 07960 983423)

If you would like a letter from Santa for your child then information will be coming home shortly and we will need your requests back by Wednesday 6th December. Letters are personalised, come with reindeer food and cost £2.50 each.

We then have our Christmas Concerts on Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th December at 4.15pm both days. Some children have been asked to attend both concerts while our youngest and newest children have been asked to just attend one of the days. Children will need to be at pre-school for 4.00pm so that we can get everyone into costume. Our committee will be on hand with hot drinks and treats while you're waiting for the concert to start. We will be videoing the concert for parents to buy and therefore we will be requesting no photography during the performances.

And to finish the term our final week, starting 18th December, will be our 'Christmas Party Fun Week'. We will have lots of games, DVD time, face painting, party food and special gift bags from Santa for all the children. There will be a small cost of £3.50 per child to help us do all of this. Oh and of course we expect to see lots of festive attire too!

Phew! I said it was a busy term!

Autumn Term Update

Well we are now well into the Autumn Term. All our new starters are doing really well and settling into pre-school life.

We'd like to remind parents to keep in touch with their child's development by checking Tapestry on a regular basis. Parents can also create their own 'Observations' which is a great way of letting us know what your child is achieving away from pre-school.

This Wednesday, 11th October, is school photo morning; this is a fun day with some fantastic photos produced by Tempest Photographers. A great momento of your child's time at pre-school as well as a fantastic Christmas present idea. All profits go straight to pre-school.

We then have our first cake sale of the new school year the week commencing 14th October; all donations are gratefully received and cakes will be on sale each day until we run out!

After our half term break we will be hosting Parent Evenings on the 7th & 9th November, our Christmas Fair will be Friday 1st December, Christmas Concerts are 13th & 14th December followed by Chrtistmas Fun Week the last week of term. It's all go!!

Plus we hope to have another special event to announce really soon.

Summer Term Update

Well it looks like Summer has arrived with some lovely sunshine but boy is it warm!

Please remember to send your child to pre-school with sun-cream applied and with a sun hat too. We will re-apply sun-cream throughout the day as circumstances dictate. It is also advisable to send your child with a bottle of water (with name clearly on please) on days when it is very hot!

Our Summer Fair is only a few weeks away and we hope that lots of you can join us on Friday 7th July from 4pm to 6pm. Entry will be £2 per adult with a complimentary drink and children will be free. We will have lots of stalls and fund things to do and all money raised from this event will go direct to pre-school.  We are in need of donations for our raffle as well as helpers on the day so if you are able to help out with the fair in anyway please let Jayne know either on 07960 983423 or email Thank you!

We will have our Leavers Concert on Monday 17th July and invites have now been issued to all those taking part. Our concert will be having a Disney theme and parents are requested to help out by providing suitably themed costumes! Any questions please see Jayne, Jaime or Katie.

As we approach the end of the academic year we will also be generating children's learning journals via Tapestry. So please keep an eye on your email towards the end of July for more information.

Any questions please get in touch with Jayne - thanks!

Summer Term Fun

Well we are now into the last term of our academic year and there is lots happening!

On Wednesday 14th June we will be having our Open Day & Sports Day event; starting at 10.00am we will open our doors for anyone (existing and new parents) to pop along, meet the staff and find out a little bit more about what Springfield Pre-School can offer you and your child. At 1.00pm we will stop for a picnic lunch before having some athletic fun with our Sports Day at 2.00pm.

Friday 7th July, from 4.00pm till 6.00pm sees our annual Summer Fair. There will be hot dogs, cakes, raffle, tombolas, crafts and much, much more. Entry will be just £2 for adults with a complimentary drink of something sparkly! (children are free). All proceeds from this event go direct to pre-school; providing much needed funds to ensure that we can continue to provide high quality resources, activities and education for your children.

On Monday 17th July we will have our Disney themed Leavers Concert; a chance to get together with all those children moving onto big school and celebrate their time with us. This could be a rather emotional event...tears are expected!

Parents will also be given full access to their child's online learning journal towards the end of this term which they will be able to download and keep. More details will come home closer to the time.

We also hope to meet our new September starters throughout the next few weeks as we get ready to welcome them to Springfield.

Wow! It's going to be a busy term! :)

Places for September

We are now taking names for children to start with us this September.

We accept children aged between 2 and 4 years old and are able to offer free places for all 3 and 4 years olds as well as two year funding for those eligible two year olds.

As from this September the government are introducing a maximum of 30 hours free childcare per week for children aged 3 & 4 years, dependent on certain criteria being met. Please have a look at Childcare Choices website to find out what you could be entitled to and how to access it. Please note that all 3 & 4 year olds will still be entitled to up to 15 hours per week funded childcare but some may qualify for an additional 15 hours to make a maximum of 30 hours.

Here at Springfield we are open 5 days a week and can offer parents the following sessions each day;

Mornings - 9.15am - 12.15pm

Afternoons - 12.45pm - 3.45pm

We also offer a lunch club each day from 12.15pm - 12.45pm, with parents providing a packed lunch.

Sessions are £9.00 each for two year olds. Lunch club is £2.50 per day.

If you are interested in a place at Springfield for your child please contact Jayne on 07960 983423 or email to find out more.

Welcome to the Summer Term!

Well we hope everyone has had a good couple of weeks holiday and are ready for the start of the Summer term.

The first half of the term is quite short but we have lots happening. We will be taking delivery of some caterpillars in the next few days which we hope will grow into some beautiful butterflies; keeping in with our Very Hungry Caterpillar theme at the moment.

We have an Inset Day on Monday 15th May but with a difference; we will be inviting all parents and children to join the staff for a couple of hours picnic & fun at Elvaston Castle. More details will be coming home to parents in the next few days.

We will also be sending home letters asking parents for their session requirements in September! Yes September!! There are lots of new things happening in relation to funded childcare and parents will be able to check online to see exactly what they are entitled to...and this may then have an impact on what sessions parents would like for September. Please visit Childcare Choices to find out more.

And before you know it we will be on break again!
