What's Happening at pre-school w/c 6.11.23

 Hi Everyone,

We hope you all had a lovely half term break and we are looking forward to welcoming all the children back to pre-school.

Our topic for the next two weeks will be ‘People who help us’ focusing mainly on the police and fire service.

To start our new topic off we will hopefully be getting a visit from the fire service on Monday morning. They will be coming into pre-school to talk to the children about fire safety and give them all a chance to look around a fire engine too.

We will be turning our role play area into a police station. We will be playing with our fire station and fire trucks on the small world table and taking part in lots of topic related activities in our creative area.

Our focus of the week will be on the children’s understanding. Can they follow simple instructions? Can they follow instructions containing two or more parts? Do they understand positional language and are they able to use it too?

🍁Please remember to fill and return your Autumn collection bags over the next couple of weeks ready for our next topic which will be all about Autumn 🍁

👗We only have a couple of weeks left until our fundraising fashion show. There is still time to purchase your tickets if you would like to come along. Your support as always will be very much appreciated in helping to raise much needed funds for pre-school 👗

What's Happening at pre-school w/c 16.10.23

 Hi Everyone,

This week we will be continuing our topic of 'All About Me' and we will be learning all about how to keep ourselves healthy. We will be talking about foods that are good for us and how exercise helps to keep us fit.

Our focus of the week will be on the children's gross motor development. Can they move in different ways, balance on equipment, jump off an object landing appropriately, jump two feet together, throw, catch and kick a ball? We will also be practicing the children's independent dressing skills too.

We will be doing exercises at movement time, exploring the affects exercise has on our bodies. We will have an obstacle course set out in the physical area for the children to complete and we will be doing the 'Hokey Cokey' for our ring game.

We will be opening 'Springfield's Farm Shop' selling lots of healthy fruit and vegetables and we will be fruit and vegetable printing on the creative table.

We will be using our muscles in the construction area too, building with big boxes and junk modelling.

It's our ‘bring your parent’ to school day on Monday. If your child attends pre-school tomorrow, you can join us from 9.15am- 10.15am. We hope to see you all there 🙂.

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 9.10.23

 Hi Everyone,

Our topic 'All About Me' continues this week with a focus on people who care for us and who help us to stay healthy. We will be talking about visiting the dentist, opticians, doctors, hairdressers etc.
Our interest table will include lots of information books and pictures to learn about all these people, including different self care resources to talk about. e.g. hair brushes, tooth brushes, toothpaste tubes, shampoo bottles.
The children will be taking part in lots of activities that promote our fine manipulative skills and pencil control development. This will be our focus of the week. We will be doing our playdough finger gym, using a variety of different tools to draw with, paint with and trace patterns in the sand. We will be hunting for bugs in the investigation unit outdoors, using the tweezers to catch them. In the water tray we will be using our scissor scoops to catch the fish as well as using the pipettes to fill small containers.
During singing time, we will be singing lots of our favourite finger rhymes. For example, two little dicky birds, 1,2,3,4,5 and Tommy thumb.
🍂Please keep a look out in your children's book bags. Each child will be provided with a brown paper bag to collect some Autumn objects, when you are out and about. Once filled we ask for you to return them, these will be used for our upcoming Autumn topic after October half term.🍂
