What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 19.06.23

 Hi Everyone,

Our topic for the next two weeks will be all about Dinosaurs. We will be incorporating one of our favourite science experiments into some of our activities, playing with vinegar and bicarb to see what happens when they are mixed together. We will be making a dinosaur swamp, with lots of natural resources to play with and explore. In the sand tray and water tray we will be digging for fossils, in the water tray we will be playing with ice cubes with dinosaurs frozen in them and we will be using paint brushes to find dinosaurs hidden in the sand. 

Our focus of the week will be on shape, space and measure. We will be taping different shapes on the floor; can the children use the blocks to follow the lines to make the shapes? We will be learning shape names and talking about their properties. Joining the dinosaurs in the water tray we will have different sized containers, exploring volume and capacity. We will be using our outdoor scales and table top bucket scales to weigh different natural objects. We will also be using the counting cubes to measure how long/short different things are.

Tuesday 20^th June is our photo morning. 

All children who attend the Tuesday morning session will have their photo taken unless told otherwise by their parents. All children moving onto big school with also have a graduation photo taken. 

If your child doesn't normally attend a Tuesday morning session and you wish for them to have their photo taken or if they have a sibling that you would like a photograph with, please come down between 10-10.30am. Please advise if this is something you would like to do.

The Long Eaton Carnival

 Come and join us Saturday the 17th June at the Long Eaton Carnival. We will be providing a play area for young children, just £1 per play and we will also having a children's tombola. Hope to see you all there 😀

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 12.06.23

 Hi Everyone,

This week's focus at pre-school will be maths, focusing on numbers. Can they sort objects according to their properties, match the correct number of objects to a given number, number recognition, number lining and much, much more. We have lots of activities planned to help promote these skills. 

We will be playing in shaving foam, with numbers. What numbers can the children find? Can we write the numbers in the shaving foam? We have our rocket number cards, pompom planets, stars and tweezers on the maths table. We will be making our own space rockets using playdough, kebab sticks and cheerio's. Can the children thread the correct number of cheerio's on the rocket depending on the number they are given? 

Our space theme topic also continues this week. We will be dancing with ribbons to some of our favourite space songs. On creative we will be block printing space rockets, bubble painting onto stars and planets, and making our very own 3D rockets from tubes.  

We will be attending the Long Eaton carnival on Saturday 17^th June. We will be having a play area and a children's tombola. So please come along and say hello 🙂

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 5.6.23

 Hi Everyone,

We hope you have all had a lovely half term. We are looking forward to welcoming all the children back this week.  

This week's topic is all about Space. We will be transforming our imaginative area into 'Springfield Space Station.' We have our very own space rocket for the children to play in, astronaut outfits and our dark den with light up blocks and small world space station set.  

On creative we will be creating our very own solar system, making each of the planets, sun, moon and stars using a mixture of different media and materials. Our focus this week will be pencil control, so we will be using a variety of different tools that support pencil control development. 

We will be playing in space themed water play, black water, glitter, foil balls, glow sticks and tongs. We will be making our very own aliens using playdough and a variety of resources for the children to choose from, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, buttons etc. 

At story time and singing time we will be enjoying some of our favourite space themed stories and rhymes. 

Each session the children will take part in our playdough finger gym. This is lots of fun and is enjoyed by all 😀

We will be doing one of our much-loved experiments with the children throughout the week using, bottles of coke and mentos. 5,4,3,2,1 Blast Off!!🚀

Sandiacre Fun and Community Information Event

We are pleased to say we will be attending this fantastic community event on Saturday 3rd June. We will have free activities for the children to take part in and it’s a great opportunity to find out what is happening in the local area. We hope to see lots of you there…come and say hello 👋 😀

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 22.05.23

 Hi Everyone,

This is our last week of term. 

We would just like to thank all of the parents that sponsored their child to take part in our sponsored bounce last week. We all had lots of fun and the children did amazing! If all sponsor money could be in by Friday, then that would be great. Fundraising events help to raise much needed funds that are used to buy resources that support some of our lovely activities that we do with our children. We very much appreciate your continued support 😀.

Our topic and focus of the week is all about one of our favourite stories 'Handa's Surprise' We will be reading the story and the children will get a chance to act it out too. We will be tasting each of the different fruits in the story, pineapple, banana, avocado, orange, passion fruit, lemon and mango. I wonder which will be our favourite? Along the way we will be learning about healthy eating and exercise. We will also be talking about where we live, where Handa lives and how we would travel to Africa if we were to go there. 

On creative we will be making the world, African animal pattern plates, fruit printing and much, much more.

What's Happening at Pre-School w/c 15th May 23

Hi Everyone,

It's Sponsored bounce week! If you would like your child to take part, please remember to bring in your child's sponsor form.

Our focus of the week will be on construction, the children will have access to a variety of different construction materials to explore. Can they join pieces together to build and balance? Can they construct with a purpose in mind?

We will be playing with construction trucks in gravel, playdough with hammers and golf tees and lots of different construction themed activities on creative too. We will be making trucks using different shapes, building houses using lolly sticks and experimenting with the marks different bricks make in paint. 

We should receive all the bits we need to set up our planter too! So, the children will get a chance to do some planting. 🌸
