What's Happening at Pre-School - w/c 1st March 2021

 What’s Happening at Pre-School - w/c 1st March 2021

Topic
This half term we will be talking about healthy eating and our bodies. We will look at different parts of our bodies and how they work. This week we will continue to talk about how important our brain is and how it helps us to do things. We will also be talking about vitamins and how they make us big and strong.

We will continue with our 'PE' time each session to demonstrate how movement and exercise help us to be strong and healthy, and how our muscles work.

We will also be focusing on pencil control over this half term. Looking at drawing lines and circles, writing names and using colours for purpose.

Story
Last week we read 'Handa's Surprise' and made masks of all the different animals in the story. This week we will be using the masks to act out the story as well as tasting all the various fruits in the story. Using props when story telling helps children to relay a story and understand how the story flows. It also helps children's own self confidence by taking on roles to act out the story.

Jon from Asda is providing us with all the fruits from the story so the children will be able to touch and taste each of them, some of which they may have not tried before. We will be talking about the shape, texture, smell and taste of the fruits.

Shapes of the Week

We will now be looking at 3D shapes along with our knowledge of 2D shapes. This week it will be Square & Cube, as well as re-capping on last weeks circle and sphere.

We will be talking about the properties of each shape; what makes them special? How many sides do they have? Where can we see them in the world around us?

We hope this information is of use but please get in touch if you have any questions (please use Tapestry).
